Has some worked on a system to test performance of NAS/XFS file system ?

Hi,

Has someone worked on a system to test performance and quality of NAS/XFS file system ?
I want to test an XFS filesystem on debian LINUX .Actual physical disk is NAS(Network Atttached Storage) disk.

Problem : How do I test this ?
I have heard that the use NFS V3/V2 protocols would be good way to do it , like SFS 3.0 (benchmark) (developed by www.spec.org).
I have very little knowledge very little about RPC, neither I am not very sure how NFS V2/V3 would help to calculate the
performance and quality in a very good way?
Why can on simple read and write system call on these file system?

Has anyone worked on testing of a XFS filesystem , any pointers on this would be highly appreciated.

Thanks and Regards
Deepak

P.S. This Query would be applicable to all LINUXs forums, but this mailing list seems to be most responsive one, so
        posting here.
