apt-get update via rsync

Hello,

I apt-get update daily via a dial-up line. I noticed that rsyncing an
uncompressed Packages file is up to 10x faster than getting the whole
compressed one. Using

rsync -Plptv ftp.uk.debian.org::debian/dists/unstable/main/binary-i386/Packages /var/lib/apt/lists/ftp.uk.debian.org_debian_dists_unstable_main_binary-i386_Packages

does work, but can I do the same via apt-get?
