debian reinstallation

So I installed Debian in February and I've just discovered that my /usr partition is much too small. I'd like to somehow set apt and dselect to reload the packages I already have - is there any way to do this without plugging through all the millions of Debian packages that show up on dselect?

Thanks,
Vivek
