Is there some way to let users override > /etc/alternatives/x-session-manager at the graphical login? Yep. ~/.Xsession . On my system, KDE is default, but my user account has a ~/.Xsession that looks like this: exec /usr/bin/gnome-session It's clean =) good times, Vineet P.S. Actually, I lied a little bit, my .Xsession actually looks like this: LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libgdkxft.so exec /usr/bin/gnome-session , which enables gtk font-smoothing, which is niiiiiiiice =) -- Currently seeking opportunities in the SF Bay Area Please see http://www.doorstop.net/resume/
