You're both right. People do learn to ignore .sig files (& bad blinking
Web ads!), but Will's suggestion is certainly one way to begin the
education Mark proposes.
A calculated concentration of essential information is surely a useful
exercise for any novice. Then in time of trouble he (or she) can
describe the problem -- & add something like `for system specs see my
.sig file.'
Oh, you still don't like it? Compose the file anyway, but don't
call it .sig. Name it whatever you like, & insert it in any post
pertinent.
Now, as I'm a _future_ Debian user: Will someone proficient in these
matters list peculiar elements most likely to be helpful in a general
case? For selfish reasons I'd like to see a template, or a practical
example.
