XINE question

Hello:

I just backported XINE from unstable to Potato. When I tried to run XINE,
it didn't even proceed past the splash screen. Here's the output message:

This is xine (X11 gui) - a free video player v0.9.3
(c) 2000, 2001 by G. Bartsch and the xine project team.
Built with xine library 0.9.3 [Thu 21 Feb 2002 15:44:02]-[gcc version 2.95.3 20010125 (prerelease)]-[Linux 2.4.17-xfs i686].
Found xine library version: 0.9.3 (0.9.3).
Display is not using Xinerama.
main: probing <Syncfb> video output plugin
load_plugins: video output plugin /usr/lib/xine/plugins/xineplug_vo_out_syncfb.so: init_video_out_plugin failed.
main: all available video drivers failed.

My video card is S3 Trio 3D/2x, and I'm using XFree86 4.1 for Potato.

I'm not really sure what to do (edit /etc/XF86Config-4, or buy a new video card,
or whatever voodoo incantation that needs to be done) to make XINE work. Just
need a decent VCD player for Linux.
