Re: Less and .gz files
less was probably linked to zless, since zless will read un-gzipped files
fine. It's a minor waste of resources, but you can always do:
cd /etc/alternatives; ln -s /usr/bin/zless less
to make this happen. Alternatively, just use zless for gzipped files.
