Re: Palm pilot problems
It took me a long time to get my Pilot working. Here's what I did:
1. Dumped Gnome. It looks cool, but way too big, way too broken.
Gnome-Pilot was the only reason I stuck with Gnome as long as I did, and
it never worked.

Stuck with WindowMaker for a while, like it, still too big & hard to
customize. Currently using Blackbox and loving its minimal look and
solid feel. Have to install bbconf and bbkeys to go with it, and RTFM
required at first. Once set up, easiest & best config tools for
customizing menus & hotkeys I've used on Linux.
2. Installed the latest version of pilot-link (all Pilot sync GUIs seem
to depend on this tool). Probably fine to use apt/dselect if you're
running Sid, otherwise I'd get it from SourceForge or else download the
Sid Debian package & install with dpkg.
3. Installed the latest version I could find of JPilot on SourceForge.
Really like it, my _only_ complaint is that you can't [I haven't figured
out how to] control how the syncing works. But it seems to do the right
thing, changes made on PC & Pilot both sync up.
4. Only extant issue: wish that I could quickly go from the address book
to starting a new email in mutt without copy/paste.
Caveat: I dual boot Windows, where the regular Palm tools work fine.
Thus I was confident throughout that the issues were software, not
hardware. This really helped.
