I've only installed Debian ppc on the oldworld macs.  If that is 
what you have (I believe that's anything prior to a G3 but check 
the above doc), you need to boot into Mac OS and look at the 
cdrom.  I believe the /install/powerpc/  (I'm doing this from 
memory) directory has a BootX.sit file somewhere in there.  
Uncompress it and read the readme file that accompanies it (you 
should be able to read it with simpletext).  If you follow it to 
the letter you should be able to get it installed.
