Indeed, as "find /lib /usr/lib -name '*.so*' -exec nm --print-file-name
--dynamic --demangle --defined-only {} \; | grep kb_main_total" shows.

If it didn't, the dynamic loader would have complained about that rather
than starting "top".
"apt-get --reinstall install procps" might help.
