Try adding the following to /etc/profile, and then logging out and back
in to let it take effect:


GS_LIB=/usr/share/gs/6.51:/usr/share/fonts/type1/gsfonts
export GS_LIB


I had the same problem recently, and that fixed it. It tells ghostscript
where to look for fonts.
