that really depends on what you do. ive run 430TX chipsets
with full 256MB even though they only support 128MB
cachable. ive noticed no slowdown, infact huge speedups.
for my needs the benefits of more memory far far far outweigh
any drawbacks from lack of cache.

as for your question i have not heard of any limits for
caching on an athlon(be it chipset or cpu). or any other
recent cpu.
