Hi List members,
I have just finished a custom kernel the debian way (I think, "make-kpkg", etc, "dpkg -i"). And now I want to get rid of the old kernel (references). And I am not sure if I should just delete them with out asking first some experienced debian users.
Under the following:
/ [2 files]
@vmlinuz points to /boot/vmlinuz-2.2.19
@vmlinuz.old points to /boot/vmlinuz-2.2.18pre21
/boot [6 files]
System.map-2.2.18pre21
System.map-2.2.19
config-2.2.18pre21
config-2.2.19
*vmlinuz-2.2.18pre21 [shows executible]
vmlinuz-2.2.19
/lib/modules [directories]
/2.2.18pre21
/2.2.19
After the system boots. It shows 2.2.19 as the kernel and the modules I want load. I can connect and it seems stable. Now I just want to clean things up before I move on. I think what's confusing me is the 2.2.18pre21 file being executible and the 2.2.19 file is not.
Any suggestions is appreciated. Thanks
