You want to specify /dev/psaux for your device, clearly.

The next issue is protocol.  You don't specify what version of XFree86
you're using (the options are 3.something and 4.something, should be in
the first few lines of output when you fire up the server).  The docs
will point you to a mouse README in XF86v4, including variants of the
PS2 protocol to try.  I popped open a root window editing the file and
saving it, while launching a second X session from a second root
session:

    $ startx -- :1

...until I got my mouse configured properly, walking through options.
Sorry, I don't know a smoother method.
