This has apparently already been reported as a bug.  You can (it
appears) use the above method safely, as the only thing it appears to
overwrite is  the icon files.  This is apparently part of the transition
to kde 2.2, and you can either go ahead like this now, or wait until
things get a little better sorted and do it cleanly.
