Acroread broken?

Hi,

I have acroread 4.0.5-4 installed but cannot use it.
It starts up and shows the licence screen. When I close the licence screen 
acroread exits with the following message:

Exited with error code: 0x400e0009.

Is that a common problem or just on my machine?
