Accessing Deb package Mirror via LAN on a dial up PPP connection
Hi there,
Could anyone tell me if this is indeed possible and if so point me in the
right direction:
I have 2 pc's at home connected together via ethernet. The one with the
modem I will call 'woody' as its running testing. the other is 'spud' an old
486dx50 running potato. I have sorted internet access from spud by using
squid. np. but trying to run dselect to update or download packages from
spud does not work.
Of course I do not have a fixed IP address to the internet as it's
dynamically assigned by my ISP each time Woody connects.
So, is it possible or not, or should I try another approach?
the ips I have assigned to each are:
woody 192.168.1.2
spud 192.168.1.1
I can telnet spud from woody (takes ages?)
but a telnet request to woody is refused.
I have a resolv.conf file on woody with the 2 nameservers I use.
Thanks in advance.
Wayne.
