The only problem I have ever seen with testing is with the installation
floppies. They dont work 100% of the time for me. But the distribution
is rock solid in my experience.
make sure after you edit your /etc/apt/sources.list you run
# apt-get update
# apt-get dist-upgrade
(not apt-get upgrade)
and it should be okay
... dont quote me on this though :)
