| Hey grat! Hadn't seen this. You are right it has to be /dev/ddyS01

Heh, more typos :-).

On my system the serial ports are
    /dev/ttyS0
    /dev/ttyS1
    /dev/ttyS2

I do notice, however, that in the kernel messages during bootup it
lists ttyS00, ttyS01, etc, (note the preceding '0'), but I have no
idea why.

COM1 is usually /dev/ttyS0 too.
