You may have missed a thread response above; I'm not sure who replied, (deleted)
but he suggested you drop yiff.  The current questions are, what programs
are you trying to use sound with?  Is it compatible with yiff?  If not, does yiff
allow sharing of /dev/dsp?  

I paraphrase the essence of his reply:

	"drop yiff, use esd as god intended"
