For a multitasking, multithreaded OS like Linux I would probably go with the
dual P-III. For example, I run Windows 2000 Pro. in the office on my dual
500MHz P-III but because of the extra threads It's actually faster than my
single P-III 866 when running a lot of applications.

Check out http://www.2cpu.com . They have a lot of good information. In
fact, they first article on the page is exactly what you are asking. :)
