Xterm term in Icewm but no Wmaker

I don't get rxvt or any other Xterm to open up in Wmaker (w/gnome).
If I switch to Icewm and open an Xterm then switch back to Wmaker
the Xterm will stay open and I can use it but if I try to open an Xterm
of any sort in Wmaker it opens and shuts immediately.  

Any ideas?
