    Greetz Don,

Good questions. I already seen prior posts to your query about the local LUG
and setting up /etc/fstab. I don't share any user space, only my swap space
when playing with other distros. You will be able to set up debian to access
both mandrakes drivespace and windoz drivespace. You will not be able to see
any linux drivespace from windoz however.

Need further info on your modem. If it's pci, best bet is it's not really
even a modem, but a win-modem. Forgetaboutit or start doing google search for
a linux driver that could support it. Externials really are nice and seem to
give the very least problems of them all, and only require a few minutes to
make dialup scripts to automate getting onto the internet. Here in debian
land, pppconfig (as root) is your friend.

The community college could be a good place too, but I'm concerned becuase
they typically base these classes on red hat, a non-free distro. Hopefully,
more schools will adopt the GNU code (like debian) and base courses on this
instead of ~... Not just distros, but the software packages too. I know in my
local college, CIS is based comletely on windoz *GASP*.. I have about a year
before I start the CIS training, and I hope beyond hope that it will no
longer be based on something as evil and vile as M$where. If not, then I will
have to either move or decide on alternate class work.

Good luck to you on your journeys, and post us with updates!
