I actually like using PCL because the printouts arrive faster than
with PS, usually.  I have nothing against PS, only that my (old)
printer is slow.

That's a nice idea . . . now where do I find such a thing?  Do you
know of any FM to R regarding the format and options in a PPD file?  I
did a little tweaking of mine file and changed "LanguageLevel" from
"2" to "1".  I relied on intuition and the knowledge that my old PS
cartridge only handles PS-L1, not L2 or L3 so I was hoping that would
help.  At first I could only send pure text to the printer, or I would
get garbage output.  Now I can send PS (I don't think PDFs work yet)
and get what I expect.
