maybe someone with some tripwire expertise can answer that...?

i think they're saying that it NEEDS TO BE a separate mount
point, such as /var, /opt, /tmp, /usr... (at least my
understanding of "mount point" is that it has to be a separate
filesystem, thus a distinct partition or volume all its own.)

for how to do the read-only mount of such a partition, i'd
recommend you look in "man fstab" and "man mount"... (i'm not up
on all that voodoo.)

How do you keep text from SCROLLING BY TOO DAMN FAST? :)
Before pressing the ENTER key of a command that you know will
generate a lot of output, "pipe" it through your pager:
	ls -lR | pager
	locate tgz | pager
	grep -r pattern /home | pager
You can also try <SHIFT>-<PAGE-UP> to scroll back. This works
both at the console and in rxvt/xterm windows.
