i believe that i had the same problem when i did the same. i can't
remember, but i think apt-get -f install fixed it. and if it didn't
there is always downloading the package and dpkg --force-depends -i
<pkg>. sure, that's ugly, but it's not any worse than hand editing
/var/lib/dpkg/status... :->
