Hmm, works just fine here. I have
append="video=riva:1024x768-8@60 devfs=mount"
in /etc/lilo.conf. There's no /dev/dsp & /dev/mixer. I don't have any OSS/ESD
packages though: only alsa (amixer, aplay etc.) and cdcd. That's probably why.
