i wrote an X interface to process tar/tgz files. It works by calling tar/gzip/gunzip. It is based on Athena widgets, readily available in every X packages. It's built on Debian 2.0. Please give it a try. It's in the attachment. if you know any site that accept uploading my program, please let me know
