snns crashes...

Hi,
I tried to compile SNNSv4.2 (a neural network simulator).
Compilation went fine, but when I run it, some of the buttons make it crash.

For example "File" -> "Done" results in the following

X Error of failed request:  BadPixmap (invalid Pixmap parameter)
  Major opcode of failed request:  54 (X_FreePixmap)
  Resource id in failed request:  0x15fc
  Serial number of failed request:  1749
  Current serial number in output stream:  1828

What kind of error is that?

Most of the other buttons do work, so I don't know what to think. I could
compile and run the previous version without problems (and there is even a
debian package for it...)
A friend reported it did work on his instalation (Redhat something).

Has anybody installed it (with success I mean) or has ideas about what I
should do?

By the way, I run Potato...
