If I'm remembering my math correctly, an 8 mhz ISA bus can transfer a
theoretical maximum of 128 Mbits/sec. This is not much more than the
100 Mbits/sec maximum that 100BaseT can push. If there were any other
ISA cards on the bus they would starve each other for bandwidth.

So 100BaseT ISA cards were rarely made if ever. Instead most are PCI
which can do 1056 Mbits/sec, plenty for several 100BaseT network cards.

ISA: 16-bit * 8 mhz = 128 Mbit/sec = 16 MB/sec
PCI: 32-bit * 33 mhz = 1056 Mbit/sec = 132 MB/sec
AGP: 32-bit * 66 mhz * 4X = 8448 Mbit/sec = 1056 MB/sec

Makes me wonder how well Gigabit Ethernet cards work over PCI.

P.S. plz correct if my math is wrong so I don't mislead anyone
