Carlos Laviola, thank you for your suggestion. Unfortunately, any permutation of dpkg --force that I try returns the error about not finding ldconfig. Apparently, I can't install ldconfig without having ldconfig. Also, I can't find libc6 in source, so I can't try it that way. Am I stuck? -- Jim Bowering -- Jim Bowering <iamb@otvcablelan.net>
