Indeed, i figured that if he/she would do something out-of-line that would
cause repercussions from systems managment AND that it is possible that
his/her sysadmin. is strung out on the job and cannot/does not want to
support this effort but agrees the user can give it a shot. That way the
user can propose a solution, i should have added the insecurity issue
though.

and yes, you could use umsdos.

on windows 9x, you can also just simply exploit all the rights you
don't have.

and what i just thought of, if the person who initially posted this
actually owns the machine, there are very easy ways to software break
a bios password...
