ISDN in Germany - please help.
Hi all
Help is desperately needed...
About a year ago I posted a mail to this list concerning making ISDN working under Debian in Germany - without to much luck. The main problem is that I'm sitting in Italy and my friend is living in the Hamburg area so it's very difficult for me to test/debug the configuration.
However, the present status is:
ISDN card is recogninzed during boot (AVM Fritz - passive card). If I do - isdnctrl dial ippp0 - the dialing process starts but I'm immediately thrown off again.
I've edited the following files - /etc/isdn/{isdn.conf,ipppd.ippp0,deveice.ippp0}, /etc/ppp/pap-secrets. I've attached parts of syslog to show progress and errors.
I have some experince in making ISDN work since I use it myself here in Italy and it took about 5 min. to make it work, when I first installed the card.
At present my friend is using Windows to read mail, browse the web etc. Now we have a project together in which I need to log into to his system. In order to fix the problem he last Saturday took the computer to a small shop to ask them to do the configuration (which they claimed they could do). Today he returned and their message was to buy 'Mandrake' or 'Suse' since they were much easier to install and configure :-(. For that advise they charged DM 80,-.
Any help concerning making the system work is very highly appreciated -
Yours
