apparently, net-tools_1.58-1 is broken.  i saw that problem yesterday,
and couldn't get any of my interfaces up, so i needed to us the `ip'
command to get back on the network, grab an older net-tools from
testing and that fixed it.

it seems that net-tools_1.58-2 works okay though, so grab that and get
it installed.
