forcing a module in

Hey people. I'm trying to set up the latest tulip driver with kernel
2.2.18pre21, and as usual, insmod complains that it can't find the kernel
version. I'm told that you can force the module in anyway, but I've tried the
-f option and it still complained. Is there a way to force the module in and
ignore the error? A friend told me that he did that and it worked.

Or, is there a fix for this? It works perfectly with the 2.2.12 kernel.

    Thanks,

    Mike
