comments.
Problem: Kengsinton 4 button track ball will
not work. A second 3 button mouse would likewise not work.
Linux boots into login window automagically.
I can log into an X window with the following characteristics; a blank
screen with no mouse cursor and a tool bar with with following icon buttons
from left to right; debinan 2.2, 3 screens on a button, console, 1,2,3,4
(with 1 depressed), a small blank window, evelope, and clock (correctly
working). I can exit with Ctrl-Alt-F1.
I ran xf86config several times and made multiple
manual changes. Lastly, with dselect I attempted to remove all X11 and
then reinstalled the entire X11 SubSection from the distribution CD. In
XF86Setup I tried all reasonable combinations for the Kensington
Track ball and another mouse. No combinaitons with either pointing
device worked.
In regard to gpm, I have not done anything with gpm
and don't know where it fits in.
Below I have included, the XF86Config setup,
SuperProbe log, and my home directory.
My PS/2 mouse is connected to COM2 (in W95), I have tried /dev/ttyS0,1,and
2 with no success.
