Re: apt, dpkg

To quote Andreas Rath <Andreas.Rath@gmx.at>,
# hello,
#
# i am working with unstable, and i am a little confused, because
# dselect wants to remove some parts from my kde!
# apt seems to have the same problem, but it keeps some packages
# back.
# Who can i detect and resolve this problem?
#
# greetings, andi
#
# p.s.: debian unstable seems to be more stable then some other OS :-)

I don't know what the root of your problem is, but I've had lots of
trouble with 'dselect' in the past. Always of my own doing ;) You could
get 'stormpkg', which is the Storm Linux Package Manager. It's a nice
GTK+-style program that duplicates most of 'dselect's functionality.

For me, it just decreased the amount of time I had to spend cleaning up
mistakes, because I don't make as many mistakes with 'stormpkg'.
