no kernel level autoconfig

Hello,

I just upgraded my kernel to 2.2.18, but I can not let it work correctly.
I copied the .config file of my 2.2.17 kernel to the 2.2.18 source dir,
ran menuconig and compiled the kernel.
As with my previous kernel, I have enabled the
kernel_level_autoconfiguration->bootp, which has worked fine before. But
when I boot with my 2.2.18 kernel, it detects my network card correctly,
and skips the autoconfiguration (no errors, no mentions) and asks for a
bootfloppy (because my system runs over nfs).

Why does my kernel not autoconfig? Is this a bug, or is there something
else in 2.2.18 that I have to enable?

Thanks in advance,
Sebastiaan
