Well, I've done that. Nothing obvious, to my eye, at least. I've
included both that and my current XF86Config-4 file, in case someone can
use those to help me out.

It seems, though, that it's not entirely reliable. Sometimes (maybe
1 time in 5) I actualy get something -- it's garbled, but there's
enough there for me to focus on the xterm and type 'exit'. It's a bit
difficult to test, given 8+ gigs of disk to fsck every time I crash,
but I'm fairly certain by now that its both crashed and given the above
result for several versions of my config (some of which were using
dexter, some xf86config -- xf86cfg crashes on me).

So at this point, I want my X back. I've seen people on the list talk
about going back to XFree 3.x; can someone give me a way to do it that
doesn't involve removing X (and all the dependancies), going back to
potatio, installing X, and moving back to woody? None of the Xfree 3.x
servers currently available in woody will support my card.
