You might follow this list and read the DSL stuff on the Linux Documentation 
Project. I do not have DSL, which is why I can not say more.

If they are IDE then it will probably be recognized out of the box. If they 
are SCSI then you might have to give some params to the kernel.

Install lilo or any other boot loader, I suspose.

You probably ordered Debian 2.2 CDs. Debian 2.2 nick name is potato.
