How can I enable network scanning?
Can anyone help with this problem, please?
Versions:
libsane 1.0.2-1
sane 1.0.2-1
I am trying to access a scanner through the network.
The scanner is an HP ScanJet on 'sarah' (192.168.1.3). It works on
that machine:
sarah $ scanimage --help
...
List of available devices:
hp:/dev/sg1 hp:/dev/scanner
(these are the same device).
sarah:/etc/sane.d/saned.conf:
linda.lfix.co.uk
192.168.1.1
(I tried adding the IP number in case the problem is in name lookup.)
On linda (192.168.1.1), I cannot get access to the scanner
linda $ scanimage --help
...
scanimage: no SANE devices found
though I can connect to saned on sarah:
linda $ telnet sarah sane
Trying 192.168.1.3...
Connected to sarah.lfix.co.uk.
Config on linda:
/etc/sane.d/dll.conf
====================
net
====================
/etc/sane.d/net.conf
====================
sarah.lfix.co.uk
====================
I tried running `saned -d 128' on sarah, rather than using inetd, but in
that case I cannot connect even with telnet (connection refused) and
saned does not appear to see the connection attempt (using strace to
monitor it).
