Re: 1/2 ifconfig

debs,

update:

ok, i figured out that "ifconfig eth0 down" no longer makes eht0 an active interface .
so now my active interfaces are "lo" and "ppp0."

here's my script "ifconfig":

Script started on Tue Aug 22 14:59:26 2000 1NET:/home/bt# ifconfig

lo

Link encap:Local Loopback
UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:3924 Metric:1
 RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
 TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
 collisions:0 txqueuelen:0

ppp0

Link encap:Point-to-Point Protocol
inet addr:216.229.35.31 P-t-P:207.204.247.202 Mask:255.255.255.255
UP POINTOPOINT RUNNING NOARP MULTICAST MTU:1514 Metric:1
RX packets:3491 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:3391 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:10
1NET:/home/bt# exit exit

q: why is my "lo" barren--no ip addressing...?
