RE: help! ... doin' the samba



smbpasswd is for changing the p/w. The log file shows a connection...

Anyways, I'll tell ya what everyone else seems to say:
go to www.samba.org, choose a mirror, and then documentation->diagnosing
samba. That document is step by step and really helpful. Also make sure
you are running smbd and nmbd through inetd (uncomment two lines in
inetd.conf) or in its own process. (change /etc/samba/debian_config).
