are you running dangerous services? and, are these needed? could you
exchange them with more secure services? these services you are
running, are these old versions which have known security bugs?
then, after you build your new machine, test it. you could try to
crack your password to see wether there are bad passwords on the
system. and, use a portscanner to see which ports are open...
