I read a few kernels ago that you needed the following in
/etc/modules.conf (or conf.modules, depending on where you are in the
Debian versioning):
options sound dmabuf=1
I have had this set for some time and have had no problems since with
sound dma buffers. Just make sure you have a reasonable amount of memory
(I have 128MB).
You really need to put this setting in /etc/modutils/aliases then run
'update-modules' so that your system is updated correctly. Don't put it
directly into /etc/conf.modules or /etc/modules.conf.
