Hi!

Try to load the support for OSS/Free mixer e.g insmod snd-mixer-oss
and then I should work fine.
I have never experianced any fluctuation useing my AWE64, it sounds very
strange (the statment not the soundcard). There is alot of information in
/proc/asound about the cards.
You could also try pnpdump and check if it wants you to use other values
than thoose you are currently using. (Make sure that you dont have any
soundmodules loaded when using it, otherwise it wont find it, or at least
it didnt find it for me).
