Is this upgrade safe?
I want to use newer version of wxpython from potato, but I have a slink
system. At the moment I work with the wxpython (from
wxPython-2.1b1-2.i386.rpm) which I installed several months because I
could not get the debian package for slink at that time.
Apt-get reports the following:
---------------------------------------
The following extra packages will be installed:
libfltk-dev g++ wxgtk2.1 libstdc++2.10 cpp gcc xlib6g libc6-dev
libstdc++2.10-dev libfltk1 libc6 binutils ldso
The following packages will be REMOVED:
timezones libstdc++2.9-dev libncurses4-dev
The following NEW packages will be installed:
wxgtk2.1 python-wxwin libstdc++2.10 libstdc++2.10-dev libfltk1
9 packages upgraded, 5 newly installed, 3 to remove and 528 not upgraded.
Need to get 5322kB/11.9MB of archives. After unpacking 14.0MB will be
used.
Do you want to continue? [Y/n]
--------------------------------------------------
I am not so sure that this will be safe and I do not want to upgrade my
whole system to potato before it is officially released and I have the
CD's available.
Compiling and installing the resulting .deb-files from the source of
wxgtk2.1 causes a segmentation fault on slink.
Is there a way that allows me to use wxpython 2.11 on my system or do I
have to install a rpm-package again?
