In case anybody else has this problem and is searching the mailing
list for a solution...

Upgrading to 2.2.12 did not fix the problem. Swapping out a Megahertz
EM1144-T PCMCIA Ethernet/Modem card and putting in a D-Link DFFE-650
Fast Ethernet PC Card appears (so far) to have fixed it (I've only
tested the Pilot), so I'm guessing it's related to the serial_cs
module. I'm using version 3.0.12 of the PCMCIA stuff.
