Once your are in the ftp program you connect to hosts with 'open', ie.
ftp> open ftp.netscape.com
enter 'help' to see more opions for the ftp> prompt.
If you at your shell prompt then you can immediately start ftp
connected to a host like you did with
# ftp ftp.netscape.com
