Actually there are dial-up unix providers.  One gets shell access.  This seems useful
to aspiring web designers who aren't ready or able to install their own T1 lines.
Access is via one's ISP, and price (for what i've been spammed with) relates to
storage levels and domain name options.  For straight unix with like (i think...its
been awhile) 100MB of storage and no domain name the cost is about $20/month (plus the
$20/month for your ISP).

I've never used such a service (but considered implementing one...lol...i mean how
cool!)
